CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS IN BLENHEIM

The Canada Day celebrations, sponsored by The Blenheim and District Ministerial Association, will take place this year on Tuesday July 1st at Glad Tidings Community Church. Last year, approx 2000 people were in attendance to enjoy the evening of activities. The purpose behind the event is to plan a family oriented celebration for our area. We believe that it is very important that the rural communities of Chatham-Kent have events that bring families together and uplift the community through fun and fellowship.

The Canada Day activities, which begin at 6:00 pm, will be bigger and better than ever before. On the stage this year and performing will be the following entertainers:

  • Jade Lester – country/pop singer/ songwriter

  • “Faithful Friends” – country /gospel band

  • The Stick People Ministry Team

  • The Blenheim-Kent Golden Eagles Gym Club

  • The Alexandria Dance Studio

  • The Christian Rock Band - “Onycha”

In addition there will be organized activities for the children at “Kiddy Land” that with feature face painting, games and more.

New this year will be the inflatable bouncer and maze that will be enjoyed by the kids and their parents.

The Old King Coal Railworks interactive display has proven to be a very popular display that will entertain kids of all ages for hours.

Then there will be the Food Concession Stands with hotdogs, pop, bottled water, popcorn and cotton candy and old fashioned prices.

At 9:00 p.m. there will be greetings from our local Chatham-Kent Councillors and Dave VanKesteren, our Federal Member of Parliament. This will be followed by the singing of our national anthem “O Canada” and then Birthday Cake will be served to everyone in attendance.

The highlight of the evening will be the fantastic pyrotechnic fireworks display presented by Brad Powell of Garden City Display Fireworks. This year’s display will be larger than last year’s and will include a professional choreographed musical display that you will not want to miss.

Stay tuned for a complete community events calendar!
