Blenheim Tourist Information Centre Offers information on Local Tourist Attractions

Looking for a few tips on where to go in the local area? Take a day away, need some informative brochures of places to go.  Looking for directions, then look no further then the Blenheim Tourist Information booth that is located near the gates of Blenheim memorial park.  The local tourist booth has been up and running for the past couple of weeks and early indications show that people are looking  for local places to visit.

Families can take advantage of the economy by taking in some of the local places throughout Chatham-Kent instead of traveling state side or beyond.  Cora Vandehogen along with Bradon Drouillard have been hired to assist tourists with tips on their travel to local destinations.  Although it's relatively early the booth has offered up information and travel tips to over 250 visitors.  Vandehogen indicated that people from as far away as England have stopped into the local tourist booth.  She reports some of the popular destinations people ask for is Rondeau Provincial Park, as well as Greenview Aviaries.  Uncle Tom's Cabin in Dresden along with the Elgin Settlement in North Buxton are also popular destinations.  The tourist booth will be open to assist both local and visiting travelers until  late August.  The tourist information centre is open seven days a week from 9 to 5 pm.

Visit Smith & Wilson Estate Wines!

Smith & Wilson Estate Wines is located in the middle of the Lake Erie North Shore wine region. We have been producing and supplying grapes to wineries for over 25 years. In 2005, we opened our own winery. As a small family-owned winery, our philosophy is to prepare small batch, quality wines to be enjoyed with friends and family. Our vineyards are grown on our third generation century farm, with the vines growing on a gently sloping gravel ridge that falls to meet the north shore of Lake Erie. Our land is sandy loam over a limestone lakebed base. With these wonderful conditions we are able to produce vintages of exceptional quality.  Visit our website at http://www.smithandwilsonestatewines.ca/

Check out our new website at www.blenheimyouthcentre.com

The Blenheim Youth Centre is a place where young people of the community (ages 7-17 years) can gather together in a safe and friendly environment.  As a means of providing young people "something to do" we offer pool tables, air hockey, computers, musical instruments, books, games, movies, and video games.  We also have scheduled activities such as movie night, dances, talent shows, BBQs and so on that are offered at little to no cost to participants.

We have a homework club every day from 3:30-4:00, guys group meets every Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 for activities like construction club, bowling, and a pool tournament, girls group meets Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 for activities including bowling, magnet making, and beauty salon.  Every Thursday night is Jam session where kids can play their own instruments and every Friday is movie night.  On Saturday September 6 we are having a dance from 7-10pm and on Saturday September 27 we are having an "End of Summer Extravaganza."

Our first major fund-raising initiative was the BYC 24-Hour Survivor Challenge.  Competitors participated in a number of challenges (some for reward and some resulting in elimination) within a 24 hour time period.  The last person remaining was named the sole Survivor and was awarded airfare and accommodation for a one week stay at the Cayman Islands.  The event was a huge success raising $36 000 for the BYC.

Our hours of operation for the fall are Monday & Wednesday 3:30-8:00, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 3:30 - 10:00.
